  • Named after explorer Giovanni Caboto, the Cabot Trail is a route that runs 298 km in length and completes a loop around the northern tip of Cape Breton Island, passing along and through the Cape Breton Highlands.
  • Premier Angus L. MacDonald decided to build this route to re-brand Nova Scotia for Tourism.  This route was completed in 1932.
  • The Cabot Trail has a rugged coastline and an incredible view of the ocean on the western and eastern sections. The southwestern section passes through Margaree River valley and through Bras d’Or Lake.

  • Newfoundland is known as “The Rock”.  
  • The Island of Newfoundland has a combined land area of 405.720km. It has over 7000 small island and the coastline is 29,000 km long.
  • Cape Bona Vista: walking along this 7 km coast, you will be in the midst of a rugged coastline where you will spot whales, puffins, and the occasional iceberg.
  • John Caboto Municipal Park: in this park stands a monument in honour of Giovanni Caboto. In 1997 Queen Elizabeth visited the site and inaugurated it as the official landing site for Giovanni Caboto. A replica ship of the Matthew, the ship he sailed on, was constructed for the celebration and was a feature that sailed around the island.  It is currently in Bristol, England.
